I recreated the plaid of the figurehead's dress using filled selections and then gave it some depth with a distort>displace filter. The rose, inspired by the one on the original, began as a PhotoObject. The overall look is a combination of the stamp filter and a duplicate layer of the unfiltered version set to color blend mode.
